NextEnergy Group continues to maintain carbon neutrality since 2022
NextEnergy Group is on a mission to generate a more sustainable future by leading the transition to clean energy. In November 2025, the Group published a Climate Strategy, supported by NextEnergy Capital’s Climate Transition Plan.
These two strategic documents are the roadmap for our business to meet with, or exceed, the latest and most ambitious climate science recommendations. The ultimate aim is to contribute to achieving the goals and targets of the Paris Agreement. As part of the Strategy, the Group is committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions. Becoming carbon neutral at the Group level1 is one of the first steps in our net zero ambition. Since 2022, we have calculated the Group’s annual Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions2 with the support of an independent third-party advisor.
We are pleased to announce that we have offset NextEnergy Group’s 2025 emissions with verifiable offsets, making the Group carbon neutral since 2022. The Group’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions were 878.2 t CO2e for the year ended 31 December 2025. This is an increase of 544.6 tonnes compared to 2024 which is attributed to improvements in data quality, resulting in more accurate emissions figures, rather than a deterioration in our underlying emissions performance. Indeed, despite the growth in our employees since 2022 when we first calculated our Group level emissions, the emissions intensity has remained constant at 2.26t CO2e/employee. We select nature-based projects to offset our residual emissions because we recognise that our continued success not only depends on leading the clean energy transition, but also safeguarding nature. The offset projects we have selected will extend the Group’s nature positive impact beyond our direct operations, thus contributing to our vision for a nature positive future.
