NextEnergy Capital and Zouk conneted to the national grid another 2 MWp in Apulia

London, November 4th, 2010 – NextEnergy Capital (“NEC”) – the leading investment bank  based in London and specialized in the renewable energy industry in Europe – and zouk Ventures (“zouk”) – London based investment fund leader in the “cleantech “and renewable energy investments – have concluded the realization of the work and the connection to the national grid of two new solar parks from 2 MWp in Puglia, through the joint venture NextPower 2 (” NP2 “).

The plants – of 1 MWp each one – are realized with 9,072 REC Solar modules mounted on fixed structures on the ground and are located in Contrada Simoni and Contrada Grazie, two different areas of the Mesagne Municipality, in the Province of Brindisi. The plants already started to produce clean energy and will ensure, during their lives, more than 70 million kWh of electricity equivalent to approximately a saving of 37,500 tons of CO2.

The development and coordination of the construction of these two plants had been managed by NextPower Development, the subsidiary of NEC responsible for the development of photovoltaic plants. The two parks have been built and will be operated by Enerqos – one of the leading EPC and O&M in Italy. WiseEnergy, the larger solar asset manager in Italy, will carry out the management activities of plant.

The total investment of the operation, which amounted to 10.6 million euro, was made by NEC through its subsidiary NextPower Holding, an investment platform focused on investments in solar power plants. To finance the construction phase, NextPower Holding received also a leasing of 9.3 million euro granted by Leasint, the leasing branch of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, with which NEC has established relationships. zouk has acquired 49% of NP2 from NextPower Holding through zouk Solar Opportunities (“zSOL”), its subsidiary focused in investing in solar parks.
